Description
Soft mature filter for the blood, because I'm paranoid. Better safe than sorry, as they always say.
There is this channel on YouTube that I recently came upon, it posts mainly creepypastas and short horror films and guys - I cannot, for the life of me, stop listening to those stories! They really have me on the edge of my seat, listening intently. (Well, okay, actually not always. Since I was blessed with the attention span of a fly, I tend to get distracted very easily.)
But anyway. There's this one creepypasta titled "Tulpa" (if you wanna listen to a dramatic reading, here's a link) and basically, it's about a young man in need of money, so he agrees to take on a scientific experiment in which he's supposed to create a doppelganger of himself with his mind.
Copy-pasted summary from the video: [...] about a man who volunteers to undergo a controlled scientific experiment whereby he imagines a double of himself -- a "tulpa" -- for an extended period of time. The researchers are quite pleased with his work, but our unlucky protagonist may not figure out just what they're so excited about until it's too late.
I didn't find this story as scary as I found it inspiring. That's why I had to draw something in relation to it. In this case, well... I just took Ophion again, because he's such a whimp, he practically offers himself to be tortured. But no, there's actually more behind this. The reason why I found Ophion to be the fitting character for this image is because he's battling his own inner demons a lot, which led me to the idea that his depression, his fear and every other negative feeling/emotion/thought/whatever is, in Pau's dream world, personified as this evil double of himself, the "tulpa".
I haven't got a lot on this idea o' mine yet, but I'm working on it whenever I have the time.
Entering with this in DeviantsGallery's Halloween Visual Art Challenge! Wish me luck!
